We know the principle of the heat pumps especially from its application in fridges. The energy efficient cooling cycle used in this case is based on the transport of heat with a low temperature to heat with a high temperature. In this way heat recovered from a space or process that needs to be cooled can serve as a heater of water. In industrial applications this upgraded water can be used elsewhere in the process or for heating a building.
