GEA Refrigeration continues to extend food freezing business

GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft acquires the second company in 2009 within its Refrigeration Division by taking over Intec USA, a leading supplier of carton freezing and chilling systems headquartered in Durham, North Carolina, USA. In 2008, Intec generated sales of approximately EUR 8 million with a workforce of about 20 employees. The acquisition took effect on January 30, 2009.

GEA Refrigeration strengthens position in the food freezing business
GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft has further strengthened its Refrigeration Division through the acquisition of Eurotek Engineering Ltd, a leading engineering company in the food freezing business headquartered in Norwich, United Kingdom. In 2007, Eurotek generated sales of approximately EUR 8 million with a workforce of 21 employees. The acquisition took effect on January 16, 2009.

GEA Refrigeration helps to secure gas supplies
Bochum/ 's-Hertogenbosch, November 5, 2008 - GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft has recently received an order to supply compression equipment for the operation of a natural gas pipeline in Uzbekistan. The value of this order, which was won by GEA's Refrigeration Division, is in excess of EUR 15 million. The delivery is planned to be completed in the second half of next year.

GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft has successfully completed the acquisition of the International Cooling Group (ICG), headquartered at Fareham near Southampton, United Kingdom. The acquisition took effect on September 26, 2008. ICG is operating profitably in an interesting growth market for the GEA Group.

GEA further strengthens its activities in industrial refrigeration
GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft has further strengthened its Refrigeration Division through the acquisition of the International Cooling Group (ICG), headquartered at Fareham near Southampton, UK. ICG manufactures evaporators and condensers for the industrial refrigeration markets under the brand names Searle, Raffel and Dawmec. In 2007 ICG generated sales of approximately 70 Mio. EUR with 500 employees. The transaction will take effect after approval from the German Federal Cartel Office.

Grenco absorption refrigeration system for marine application

For the first time ever an absorption refrigeration system is to operate onboard large fishing vessel. Substantial fuel saving and ease of operation are the main features. 

Until now refrigeration systems onboard fishing vessels have been utilizing the traditional compressor technology. Grenco however started 10 years ago a study on the use of the absorption principle for marine applications. This work has cumulated in the first order for the well known innovator Mr. Stig Remøy and his Norwegian company Olympic Prawn. The new ship, yet to be named, will be build at Havyard Solstrand in Norway, and the ST-118 design is worked out by Skipsteknisk in Ålesund.

At the beginning of June we expect the first GEA Refrigeration company websites in the new structure, look and feel! The development of the new internet structure started a year ago. About 40 companies will be transferred to the new structure in the coming period.
